Q Discussion - What is Learning? - Discussion Group 1 From PSYC-01A-52041 Here's a discussion question to get you started. How do you learn something? Need clarification? How do you learn TO DO something, and how do you learn NOT to do something? The psychological study of learning suggests we learn to do things that give us positive reinforcement and learn to avoid things that give us negative reinforcement, or that result in punishment, but it's not quite that simple... In a 250-300 word reply, explain how you learn. Give an example of how you learn to do something, and an example of how you learn not to do something else. Read your group member's replys and respond to at least two of them in 75-100 words. Note: Click the options button in the upper right corner to see the rubric for this exercise.

Hello Classmates, This one right here was kinda difficult for me. Although, I know how I learn things. I never payed attention to how do you learn not to do something. The ways I learn are by watching someone do it, or by explaining it to someone else. If you want to test your knowledge on a subject, try explaining it to someone else. This forces you to reword your innate knowledge, and revisit it from the ground up. Another way to learn is to practice consistently. This is the way our brains are wired; the more we do something, the more important it becomes, and the more entrenched it becomes in our memory.
